My Review:
Nothing is better than a little 1970s sex, drugs and rock and roll with a coming of age story about a conservative young teen babysitter named Mary Jane. Her summer job with a therapist’s family opens her eyes to a carefree life void of organization and order and filled with love, music and unbridled fun. Used to a quiet life of cooking with her mom and singing at church, Mary Jane becomes a crucial part of this unconventional family, bringing order to chaos and at the same time being exposed to 1970s wild and liberal experiences, observing more than her fair share as a 14 year old. Living in the same house over the summer where Mary Jane is nanny to a young child is a famous rock star and his actress wife. They are hiding away so the musician can try to get clean and receive therapy from the man of the house who is a doctor. This famous couple proves to take everyone’s experiences up a notch and their lives are infused with humor, truth and unbridled passion, causing Mary Jane to think about how she wants to live moving forward. This book was a real delight – pick up a copy of Mary Jane for you and a friend. Sure to be a great holiday gift all will enjoy!
