Truths, Lies, Romance and Mystery are Thrilling in Verity by Colleen Hoover

Verity

My Review:

With heart pounding suspense, Colleen Hoover delivers a psychological thriller that kept me glued to the pages! It is amazing how some books can take forever to read and others are devoured in a blink of an eye. All of Hoover’s books suck me in for 24 hours, cover to cover, without taking a breath! Verity is captivating and sexy, a little twisted but very addictive!

Lowen Ashleigh, a mildly talented author at a low point in her life takes on a ghostwriting project that brings her to the quiet, countryside home in Vermont of bestselling author Verity Crawford and her husband, Jeremy. Verity has been out of the spotlight due to an accident where details of her injuries have been hush hush and Lowen has been hired to complete an unfinished book series for her, behind the scenes. With Verity being cared for by a nurse and sleeping in the guest room upstairs, Lowen gets to work. Planning to stay over for several days to absorb herself in the existing books and to search for outlines and other information that would help with developing the rest of the series, Lowen begins her research in Verity’s office full of books, notes and existing drafts. Early on, she comes across what seems to be Verity’s autobiography. Everything she believes about Verity is contradicted in the diary-like pages and the recorded actions and feelings it reveals are very dark and disturbing. Reading this creepy and alarming document, sleeping in Verity’s old bedroom, spending time with Verity’s husband where an attraction is developing, and observing strange and unexplainable occurrences around the house has Lowen completely stressed out, confused and unsure of the truth.

Twisted, disturbing and suspenseful, Verity was a fun, worthwhile read; a thrilling ride! When Colleen Hoover wrote the acknowledgements for Verity, printed in the back of the book, she thanked the people in the private facebook group called Colleen Hoover’s CoHorts; at the time there were close to 80,000 members and now there are 175,000 members and it is continually growing. Not only has she mastered the YA romance genre, Hoover excels in mystery and suspense as well, based on this one!
